Getting There
- Driving: ~5.5 hours from Sydney via Hume Highway → Kosciuszko Road
- Public Transport: Train to Canberra, then bus to Jindabyne & Thredbo
Itinerary & Highlights
8:00 AM – Arrive at Thredbo Village
- Take Kosciuszko Express Chairlift (optional, saves 4 km of uphill hiking)
9:00 AM – Begin the Summit Hike
- Follow the well-marked Summit Trail with scenic boardwalks
- Pass Lake Cootapatamba, Australia’s highest lake
11:00 AM – Reach Mount Kosciuszko Summit
- Take in 360° panoramic views of the Snowy Mountains
- Snap a photo at the summit marker
12:30 PM – Descend Back to Thredbo
- Option to hike or take the chairlift down
